You will make more points with the Board by conducting your business
ethically and legally at all times. Your museum should have a Board-approved
Mission Statement and Collections Management Policy that covers acquisition
of human remains.

Never contemplate accepting humans without a clear and unambiguous
written record of ownership. If there is the slightest doubt as to the
authenticity of claims of origin of human remains, it is your obligation and
responsibility to not only refuse to accept such a collection, but to alert
responsible officials of possible trafficking in human remains.

Thanks to Angela for her clear advice based on extensive experience
dealing with NAGPRA. The University of Alaska Fairbanks has always been at
the forefront in ethical and professional handling of NAGPRA issues.
