Please Touch Museum is seeking a Project Educator.
 
    Full time position reporting to the co-principal investigators of the
Pre-School Science and Math Resource Project, an NSF funded program. Primary
responsibilities will be for the early education math and science content and
coordinating project personnel and activities.  This 44 month project will
begin in January, 1995.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
-Coordinate the development of 7 science and math educational kits for early
education centers serving 4 year olds.
-Write curriculum for the science and math kits
-Work with kit advisors on the accuracy and appropriateness of kit content
-Coordinate production of kits with contractor
-Serve as liaison with the partner early childhood centers' staffs.
-Design and conduct professional workshops on the basic science, science
inquiry                                method, and materials-based instruction
for the early education center partners
-Conduct parent orientation workshop and focus groups
-Contribute to writing the monthly/annual grant progress reports
-Assist with the prototyping and evaluation of the kits and workshops
-Participate in the presentation of the kit development and results at national
conferences
-Additional duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
-Bachelors degree in science education, Masters prefered
-3 to 5 years experience in early childhood education
-Knowledge of activity-based science and math curricula
-Experience as staff trainer and curriculum developer
-Ability to work simultaneously on many aspects of project
-Administrative experience and an ability to work well with others
-Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
-Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
 
Salary commensurate with experience
