     I did a semester museum internship in England at the Royal Armouries,
     Tower of London through the University of Rochester's internships in
     Europe program.  I would highly recommend the program.  Although it
     was expensive, they did arrange for great housing (I lived in a flat
     right on the river across from St. Pauls) and internships.  I doubt
     that you'll be able to find a paid internship. Museums in England
     offer paid internships about as often as U.S. museums.  I would think
     that if there was a paid internship to be had that the British
     students would already have filled them.
