Over the course of the past month or so, I've noticed a lot of inquiries
about where to post resumes in order to find a job. Regardless of where you
can and cannot post, just posting your resume somewhere does not strike me
as the best way to find work. Your resume, and the cover letter and
intangible networking that go with it, are designed to demonstrate how you
can fulfill the needs of your potential employer; most employers are not too
concerned with how they can fulfill the needs of potential employees -
particularly when they don't even have a job opening. Posting your resume
for thousands of people who may not even need you could be
counterproductive. Choosing 3 or 4 targets and aiming carefully at them is
bound to be more effective than scattering your resume around, IMHO.
