August 16 Webinar: IMLS Answers Questions about RFP for Digital
Inclusion Cooperator

Washington, DC-On August 16, 2010, the Institute of Museum and Library
Services (IMLS) will host a webinar to answer questions about its
Request for Proposal (RFP) (http://www.imls.gov/pdf/FDI-2010-RFP.pdf)
for a cooperator to develop a framework of the principles, elements, or
characteristics of organizations and communities that foster digital
inclusion. This RFP was developed in response to the National Broadband
Plan recommendations on digital inclusion and adoption. Prior to
participating in this question and answer session, please read the RFP
and take a look at the presentation slides at
http://www.imls.gov/pdf/FDI_Overview.pdf

During the webinar, which will take place from 2 to 3:30, IMLS staff
will answer questions about the development of the framework, which is
based on recommendations in the National Broadband Plan. It is the first
step in the creation of final guidelines that will be used as the basis
for benchmarks, evaluation tools, or performance measures. The ultimate
purpose of this work is to provide resource allocators, policy makers,
and community leaders with the tools they need to build the capacity of
public libraries and community-based organizations to meet the public's
information needs.
