Dear Colleagues,

European ICOM members (and perhaps also African members who may have to
travel to the Far East via Europe) may like to know that though the
British Airways service from London to Seoul remains suspended, KLM now
has a six days a week service from Amsterdam again, and are currently
taking bookings for September/October with discount of around 65% compared
with the current standard economy fare.

For mid-week travel KLM are quoting a fare of about GB£ 510 (around 750
euros or US $960 including UK taxes etc.) from the main English airports
(Heathrow,Birmingham, Manchester) via Amsterdam, (£30 more from Glasgow
Edinburgh) Presumably similar advance booking fares are available from
Amsterdam, and from other European countries with KLM services to
Amsterdam.

Other cheap flights with major European airlines currently available
on-line (see e.g. http://www.expedia.co.uk) for late September & October
including about GB£ 575 (850 euros/$960) return with Lufthansa from
Frankfurt (and from Paris, London and several other European cities
on the Lufthansa network via Frankfurt), while Air France is charging
GB£ 670 (about 970 euros/$1250) from Paris (and from London via Paris).

I hope this is a help. The key point is to book as early as possible:
even if the printed programme and booking form for Seoul has not yet
arrived. The full programme of both the main conference and the important
pre-meetings in the last week of September are now available on the ICOM
2004 web site at: http://www.icom2004.org/
