My preference is for an ICOM award to be awarded to an individual or
individuals, rather than a museum. This would be a worthy acknowledgment of
dedication to the profession and would not replicate museum-based awards
that already exist (for instance, The European Museum of the Year ).

There would be no need for any slection panel to travel at great expense to
the ICOM membership.

Nominations could be made through the committees along with supporting
evidence being rpovided from this source.

No candidate should be able to nominate themselves but would need to agree
to have their name go forward for such an international honour.

This award should necessarily require an individual to be a member of ICOM
to receive it.

The prize could be monetary along the lines of the Nobel prizes

best wishes to all
Roger
