A revised version of the ICOM Internet FAQ is available at:

     http://www.icom.org/internetfaq.html

An update to the FAQ has long been overdue. In light of the
present discussion about the ICOM Web site's purpose and policy,
the time for redressing this was clearly at hand. Previous
versions were based on the premise that e-mail was the sole
ubiquitous document delivery channel available to ICOM's target
network community. Corresponding constraints were imposed upon
material included in the document repositories. It is now assumed
that users of the Internet have access to the Web.

The FAQ has, from the outset, provided guidelines for the
contributors of material to the ICOM Web site. Despite this, it
has rarely been consulted (thus the low priority of keeping it up
to date) and the rules it deliniates have not been enforced with
particular vigor.

(Although any debate that the FAQ may trigger is certainly most
welcome, there have been off-list indications that a full-blown
flame war may be brewing. Please try to keep a civil electron in
your wire if you enter the arena :-)
