Dear Colleagues,

The ICOM Executive Council is meeting this week in Paris.  As many of you
know, the goal of the Search Committee for the new Director General was to
present a finalist to the Council at this meeting.  
We are happy to report that we met this goal and presented a very strong
candidate to the Council on Monday morning.  We have been given the mandate
to make an offer to this individual and are currently in negotiations.  We
will let you know as soon as we have been able to finalize our discussions.
We will not be accepting any other applications or nominations at this time.
We feel fortunate to have had many interested prospects and would like to
thank those of you who offered up suggestions during the course of the
search.

Chers Collègues,
Le Conseil exécutif de l’ICOM se réunit cette semaine à Paris. Comme vous
êtes nombreux à le savoir, l’objectif du Comité de recherche du nouveau
Directeur général était de présenter un finaliste au Conseil lors de cette
réunion.
Nous avons le plaisir de vous annoncer que cet objectif est atteint et que,
lundi matin, nous avons présenté aux Conseil un candidat très solide.
Chargés de faire une offre à cette personne, nous sommes actuellement en
cours de négociation et ne manquerons pas de vous aviser dès que nos
discussions auront pu aboutir.
Nous n’accepterons plus alors aucune autre candidature ni nomination. Le
Comité de recherche est heureux d’avoir reçu autant de candidatures
intéressantes et, à cet égard, nous tenons à remercier ceux d’entre vous qui
ont émis des suggestions au cours du processus de recherche.

Estimados Colegas,
El Consejo Ejecutivo del ICOM se reúne en París esta semana. Como muchos de
ustedes saben, el Comité de búsqueda  de candidatos para el puesto vacante
de Director General se había fijado el objetivo de  presentar un finalista
al Consejo en esta reunión de diciembre.
Nos agrada informarles de que el Comité ha cumplido con este objetivo y ha
presentado en la sesión matutina del lunes un candidato muy sólido para ese
puesto vacante. Se ha dado mandato al Comité para que haga una oferta a esta
persona y se está negociando con ella actualmente. Tan pronto como finalicen
las negociaciones les pondremos al corriente de sus resultados.
Por el momento, no se aceptará ninguna otra presentación de candidatura. El
Comité no sólo se congratula por haber tenido la ocasión de examinar muchas
propuestas de candidaturas de calidad, sino que además desea aprovechar esta
oportunidad para expresar su agradecimiento a todos cuantos le formularon
propuestas y sugerencias durante su labor de búsqueda.
