Thank you for your recent message concerning the conference and
opportunities through ICOM-L.
Owing to the number of enquiries received about presentations made by
particular speakers at the ICOM-MPR sessions in Barcelona, we will certainly
be approaching Cary Karp (also a speaker on our program) to facilitate an
MPR discussion forum through the ICOM-L facility. Given the universal appeal
(necessity?) of successful marketing communications for modern museums,
contributions to the
discussion will be sought from interested parties outside of MPR as well.
Topics that generated the most interest, but because of scheduling problems
and time constraints could not be explored further during the conference,
included:
1. ideas for developing new audiences (youth and multicultural markets in
particular), and
2. working models for creating a stronger brand identity.
The board of ICOM-MPR, through conducting these discussions and welcoming
even greater membership participation in our annual meetings of 2001-2004,
is hoping to build a better international committee that is devoted to
servicing the practical needs of its members. Further suggestions from the
ICOM membership on how we may better achieve this objective are always
welcome.
