INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "MUSEUM AND CHANGE II."<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

INTERCOM ANNUAL MEETING 2005

Prague, November 8 - 12, 2005

As you are probably aware, this year the annual INTERCOM conference will be taking place in the Czech republic. It is twinned with the international conference "Museum and Change II" organized by the Association of Czech Museums and galleries and the Czech Committee of ICOM, with he support of the Czech Ministry of Culture. The venue is the National Museum in Prague.

Have a look at the full conference programme on the <http://www.intercom.museum/> INTERCOM website .

The Museum and Change II is the second occasion for museum professionals, museologists and students to meet; our goal is to make this meeting a triennial event focusing on topical, hot - and perhaps also controversial - issues related to museums, museum visitors and current museum practice.

Our objectives:

To confront opinions on the work of the museum community and to stimulate discussion on new museological topics that will come into the foreground with a growing intensity in the future period; to clarify new trends in museum work and to find new applicable models for our work; to provide occasion for international discussion on further orientation of museum work, a forum for sharing experience and mutual inspiration.

The conference programme will be divided in four thematic blocks:

- Managing change

- Volunteers and museums

- Collection mobility

- Museums in the virtual space

-

The speakers come from all over the world to share their experience and know-how with colleagues from other countries. Six INTERCOM members will be speaking during the conference on current museum issues.

The INTERCOM annual meeting will take place on 8 November at 5-7.30 pm.

On Friday 11 November, participants will be invited to visit South-West Bohemia and some of its sites: the charming Kozel Chateau, the famous bier city Pilsen with its Brewery Museum (lunch in the brewery restaurant) and we will close the day in Antonin Dvorak Memorial House in Vysoka. Those who prefer to stay in Prague will have an opportunity to visit - free of charge, of course - museums and interesting sites of the city.

Accommodation in the centre of Prague, near the conference venue, can be booked via the conference secretariat at preferential rates. (More information on the proposed hotels at:

As the time is running short, please do not hesitate and use the opportunity to take part in the conference taking place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, a city rich in history and its witnesses - beautiful historical monuments and numerous museums. The organizers are looking forward to meeting you and are ready to answer any of your further questions.
