Dear ICOM members,

INTERCOM is delighted to invite you to this year's exciting conference
and annual meeting in Copenhagen in Denmark which will take place from
the 13-16 September 2011.

This INTERCOM conference examines the rights and wrongs of museums and
politics - including political influence and interference, subject
matter that causes museums to get involved in political issues, the
perils and benefits of museums being 'political'.

CALL FOR PAPERS

We invite all interested to send in paper proposals for the conference.
The papers should relate to the overall subject of museums and politics
and contribute to the development of the Copenhagen Declaration. They
may/should be related to one of the following subjects:

*        The world of conflicts

* Human rights and cultural diversity

* Hot spots and critical reflexion

*        Migration and globalization

We encourage speakers to think of subjects that will open up a debate on
the role of the museum in a political arena.

We cordially invite you to submit proposals for presentations, case
studies, research papers and best practice models that demonstrate how
museums can face these challenges.

Proposals

Proposals should be no more than 300 words. Please also include a short
CV or biography of 200 words.

Since INTERCOM papers are published online, you will be requested to
provide the organisers with a written paper, preferably before the
conference.

All papers must be in English.

The deadline is 15 July 2011.

Candidates will hear from the INTERCOM organisational committee by
beginning of August if they have been selected.

Please send your proposals to [log in to unmask]
