*Main theme: “Museums and tourism: Museums integration into the tourist
industry”*



“Intermuseum 2012” – is the central event in the museum life of Russia, it
is an international forum, where main problems of museums development are
discussed. The Festival is held every year since 1999. More than 150
museums from Russia, CIS countries are going to participate in the
Festival. Tourist associations, companies and organizations, which develop
tourism, were invited to participate in the Festival.

By tradition in the frameworks of the Festival International exhibition
“Museum technologies and equipment “Technomuseum” will be held. It will
gather Russian and international companies, which supply equipment for
museums, adopt modern technologies into the museum activity.



Festival will open its doors on 1st of June at 11:00. Official opening
ceremony will be held - *1st of June at 16:00.*



*Main organizer*: Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation.
Co-organizers: Administration of the President of the Russian Federation,
Russian committee of the International council of museums, Federal Drug
Control Service of the Russian Federation, Federal agency on tourism,
Federal agency “Rossotrudnichestvo”, Russian union of museums, The
Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Cooperation of the CIS.



*Festival Structure:*

   1. Main exhibition “Museums and tourism: museums integration into the
   tourist industry”
   2. Exhibition “Museum technologies and equipment “Technomuseum”
   3. Competition program
   4. Conference program
   5. Special projects, including “3D museum”
   6. Cultural program



Competition program includes:

Two international museum contests:

   - Contest for the CIS museums “Area of culture – Area of confidence”
   - Contest for joint projects between young museum specialists from CIS
   countries.

Competitions for Russian museums:

   - Museum project “Museum as a main informational resource for cultural
   tourism”
   - Partner project on creation of the museum-tourist product “Museum and
   the tourist business – mutually beneficial partnership”
   - Contest of projects devoted to the museums values of the Russian
   Federation preservation
   - Contest “The best manager of the year” named after T. Kibalchich
   - Grand-prix “The best museum of the year”

Priority will be given to projects, which are connected with the jubilees
of the major historical events and are a part of the tourist product. This
year is 200 years anniversary of the Napoleonic war, 400 years anniversary
of the liberation of Moscow from invaders and 1150 years of the origin of
the statehood.

Other contests and prizes of the Festival:

   - Contest of the Russian union of museums “Museum in the city N…”
   - ICOM Russia prime “Russia – Europe: Pro-gress on a museum map”
   - Personal awards:
      - The museum profession prestige strengthening;
      - Mass media awards “The best PR in museum”;
      - “Security in museum” prize;
   - Viewers’ sympathy prize for the best exhibition and work on a stand
   during the Festival

industry

·         Industrial heritage preservation and regional development

·         Museums integration into the tourist industry: Russian experience

·         Integration and collaboration among CIS countries in the
development of the museum cultural and educational tourism

·         Actual problems of the museum area in Russia

Conference program events will include: multimedia presentations, papers,
round table talks and master classes. Among speakers: Ministry of culture
specialists, Federal agency on tourism specialists, representatives of
museums and tourists organizations.

Leaders and representatives of the biggest museums and organizations of

Closing ceremony of the Festival will be held on 5th of June.
