Dear colleagues,

***GETTY FOUNDATION BURSARIES ***

We are delighted to announce that thanks to a grant from the Getty
Foundation, ICOM - INTERCOM is able to offer bursaries to a number of
museum professionals from low GDP countries in Africa, Asia and the
Pacific, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe to participate at
INTERCOM 2009. The conference focus is on Museums working in partnership
- taking a closer look at relationships between the museums and its
public, the government and educational institutions, between museums and
museums and looking more closely at museums as virtual communities all
the while thinking about management challenges these partnerships bring
with them.

The conference will explore these themes further through a combination
of international speakers, case studies, presentations and workshops and
excursions to key destinations in the region of Torreon in Mexico.

* Applicants must be individual members of ICOM or work for an
institution that is an institutional member of ICOM.

* Applicants must be qualified museum professionals and must be
currently employed in a museum or related institution.

* Applicants are invited to submit a proposal for a paper or workshop
session under one of the themes of the conference.

The closing date for applications is Friday 14 August 2009. Please note
this deadline is earlier than the general call for papers. This is so we
can process all applications in time for the conference. Submissions
received after the 14 August cannot be considered.

You can download the application form on the INTERCOM website at
www.intercom.museum or at http://www.intercom2009.com.mx/ where you
will also find more information about the conference.

A version in ESPAGNOL is available on http://www.intercom2009.com.mx/

***CALL FOR PAPERS EXTENDED***

We welcome your expressions of interest and there is still time to send
us your proposal.

The general closing date for the call for papers has been extended until
the 31 August 2009.

We look forward to hearing from you!
