Dear all,

I got the following information from Hayley Russell, Events
Administrator at Collection Trust, UK. This should be of interest for
ICOM members.

Kind regards,
Christian-Emil Ore

International Collections Management conference, OpenCulture 2011, which
takes place this year in Birmingham, England on the 7^th and 8^th June.
The full conference programme can now be downloaded at
http://www.openculture2011.org.uk/programme.

OpenCulture is the only sector conference designed to meet the needs of
people who work with Collections. With a jam-packed schedule, the
Collections Trust bring to you over 20 renowned speakers from the museum
sector, the Great Collections Management Trade Fair and a series of
*not-to-be-missed* seminars giving you an unparalleled opportunity to
learn about some of the key current developments in the sector.
OpenCulture will take place on the 7^th and 8^th June in The Custard
Factory, Birmingham. Please visit www.openculture2011.org.uk
<http://www.openculture2011.org.uk> to book or call 020 7250 8340 for
more information.

In particular, I think your members may be interested in these
conference highlights:

· *SPECTRUM -- the Way Ahead, 7^th June, 14.00 -- 17.00*

* *

/Led by Nick Poole (Collections Trust)/

SPECTRUM, the UK & International Collections Management standard is used
by more than 7,000 museums worldwide. The Collections Trust will be
using this seminar to launch /SPECTRUM 4.0/ so come along and find out
about this new, simplified standard and how it can help your manage your
collections more efficiently.

We will also be reviewing progress with the translation and localisation
of SPECTRUM in other countries, with the aim of setting out a 5-year
roadmap for the future development needs of the community.

This seminar is designed for non-technical people working with
collections in museums, archives and libraries in the UK and Europe. We
also welcome participation from Collections Management software vendors
and from people interested in translation/localisation.

· *Sustainable Collections Management, 8^th June, 14.30 -- 14.50*

/Kostas Ntanos, Head of Conservation Research and Development, National
Archives/**

Kostas Ntanos will use the new BSI standard for /Environmental
Management/ to explore the key challenges and opportunities in
developing more environmentally sustainable approaches to Collections
Management.

I would be extremely grateful if you could promote the event amongst
your colleagues, and in particular highlight the event in relation to
your travel bursary programme and encourage people to apply. We believe
that OpenCulture would be extremely beneficial to your members and would
love to see as many of them there as possible. As an added incentive, we
would like to offer ICOM members a 20% discount on the conference fees,
which can be accessed by typing the discount code 'ICOM2011' when
prompted into the eventbrite page when booking at
http://www.openculture2011.org.uk/register-online.
