I have just received this from Lois Irvine, Secretary of ICOM-ICTOP and of
the Commonwealth Association of Museums.

At the time of his death he was President of the Commonwealth Museums
Association, a Board Member of ICTOP and (I think) still President of
AFRICOM.

Dear Friends:

I am very sad to write to you that Emmanuel Arinze passed away this morning in Nigeria.  It was a shock even though we knew he had an enormous battle to fight.  He will leave a huge space in the museum community, locally, nationally, and Internationally and very specially for myself and CAM. He gave to us his commitment and energy without fail and never stopped thinking forward to realizing our dreams

I will be likely be back in touch with you regarding tributes.
