DEPUTY DIRECTOR, UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND MUSEUMS.
The University of Richmond seeks an energetic and creative individual to
help lead its new University Museums, which administratively oversees the
operation and seeks greater awareness of its art museum (Marsh Art Gallery)
and natural sciences museum (Lora Robins Gallery of Design from Nature). As
Deputy Director, this person will be involved in the over-all operation and
programming of the University Museums; this person will also serve as
Curator of Lora Robins Gallery. The successful candidate must have
curatorial expertise in the area of natural science objects along with an
understanding and appreciation of the fine arts, decorative arts, and
international cultural artifacts that comprise the collections and missions
of the two museums. Must be a proven, effective, highly motivated leader
with extensive experience in museum management. As curator, the candidate
must have curatorial experience in the natural sciences, understanding of
museum standards and practices, public presentation skills, and
writing/publication record. Should be an effective communicator, able to
work with a variety of constituencies both within (including students,
faculty, and staff) and beyond the university community. Responsibilities
include strong financial management; resource and donor development;
fundraising and grantwriting; community relations; supervision of
exhibitions, programs, collections, and staff. Duties include exhibition
and program planning, developing and overseeing exhibition and project
budgets, participating in educational programs, and representing the
museums and the university to scholarly and academic communities as well as
the general public. Prefer at least six years museum experience in a
supervisory role and a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in an area of the
natural sciences.  Submit cover letter, resume, names of references, and
