Our card catalog system is also organized by revised nomenclature and
accession number.  Although we have probably killed more than our share of
trees using this system, it does make finding information quick and easy.
For those fortunate enough to have a collection where every single item has
been properly and clearly numbered, I would assume a filing system based
only on accession number would work just as well also.
