I have always thought that museums that concentrate on agriculture should
focus on the culture and lifestyle that the particular agricutlure creates.
People are always more interested in the human aspects of a topic than just
the logistics of it. I would take the time to discuss some of the following
issues...
1. What was life like for those people who praticed this form of
agriculture? How did it change over time and how did this affect people's
lives?
2. How did the county differ from others because this type of agriculture
was practiced?
3. What has survived from this agriculture society and what hasnt? Why?
In Kenly, North Carolina there is the Kenly Tobacco Musuem. You should
contact its curator because they have done a very good job with this type of
museum.

Subject: Interactive Agriculture Exhibits
Hello Listers,
We are in the planning stage of a satellite museum that would focus on
the agricultural history of our county. We would very much like to make
the museum a fun learning experience, and wonder if any of you have seen
or worked in museums that had interactive components dealing with
agriculture. We've got both horse-drawn and motorized equipment that was
used with most of the crops grown here, but want to have more than lined
up equipment and some photographs. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you!
