Where to begin - there is so much!
We have a great temporary exhibition here at my museum (the Science Museum)
on renaissance engineering called 'The Art of Invention' which I would
recommend even if I didn't work here!
This links rather nicely to an exhibition currently at the National Gallery
on ‘Renaissance Florence: The Art of the 1470s’.
There are also temporary exhibitions at the Royal Academy on Sir John Soane
(architect) and Van Dyck which I understand are worth seeing (I'm going
next week).
Linking from there, have you visited the Sir John Soane museum near
Holborn? It is truly wonderful - full of bits and pieces from the ancient
world crammed into a tiny space, a lot of Hogarth and a lovely C18 house
interior.
Finally, the Geffrye Museum is small but delightful. It displays the
developement of the english interior through a series of room settings. It
also has a recently built restaurant which is not bad at all.
The Time Out listing magazine has a good web site full of further suggestions:

Do enjoy your visit and don't forget to wrap up warm, it's getting a little
parky here now!
