Three questions:
1) What % of its total operating budget does the Brooklyn Museum get
from the city?
2) Does the city have a representative on its board?
3) Actually how many pieces are THAT bad?
Seems to me that if the board was made aware of this show in the usual
2-3 yr advance timeframe, word of its potential offensive elements would
have worked its way back to the mayor prior to its opening in an
election year, and if the mayor was truly offended by it (rather than
using its existence as a political tool) he could have taken action
then.
