Hello there,

I am not an expert on display of accessories, or the sort, however, I have
worked on several projects with the University of North Texas' Fashion
Collection (Mrs. Myra Walker) and the Metropolitan Costume Institute (Mr.
Koda). They usually have great ways in which to display hats and
headresses. You might want to contact them and ask them for information.
Another collection you should look into is the Goldstein Gallery at the
University of Minnesota. Good luck!!

Subject: Re: Exhibiting hats

We are currently in the process of researching and designing a clothing
exhibit detailing clothing fashions in Pittsburgh from 1790 through the
present. Our designer and preparator found it particularly helpful to
visit commercial hat and clothing stores for ideas on how to go about
displaying hats.

Of course, the styrofoam busts or heads that many hat stores utilize are
out of the question -- chemically as well as aesthetically. However, a
few stores that we visited used a simple wall mount construction that we
were easily able to replicate.

Best,
