Assistant Curator of Public Programs
The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, Connecticut seeks
a dynamic, innovative and organized individual to develop, promote, present,
and evaluate programs for adults. The Assistant Curator of Public Programs
reports to the Director of Education and works closely with curatorial and
education staff to develop programs including, gallery talks, lectures,
scholarly symposia and classes concerning issues related to the permanent
collection and special exhibitions. In addition, the Assistant Curator of
Public Programs collaborates with the Director of Education and curatorial
staff to develop interpretive strategies for special exhibition and
permanent galleries. Other responsibilities include management of the
museum's college internship program, serving as museum liaison to colleges
and universities, budget management, grant writing and presenting public
talks and tours. The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in
art history and three years of museum programming experience, teaching
experience with college and/or adult audiences, and strong administrative
and communication skills. This is a full-time position with benefits. To
