List Members may remember a while back that Nicholas Ardizzone son of the war artist and illustrator Edward Ardizzone was trying to trace some lost art work for some of the children's books his father illustrated via the list. This search was successful.
On 25th October 1999 an exhibition "Running away to Sea" to celebrate Ardizzone and the new publishing of his Little Tim books and the first showing on land of his nursery murals for the P & O liner Canberra opened at the Centenary Gallery Camberwell College of Arts, Peckham Road London SE5 8UF (Tel +44 171 514 6302).
For any members of the list who happen to be in London and who are interested in the history of children's literature this exhibition is a must. The illustrations are wonderful. The Exhibition is on Monday to Friday10 am to 8pm and Saturdays 10 am - 4pm until 10 November 1999. Free Entrance.
Buses 12, 36, 171 & 345. Nearest station: Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill. Nearest Tube: Oval then bus 36 or Elephant and Castle, then bus 12, or 171.
