Kimberly,
I'll give you *my* idea, which I am, unfortunately, not going to be able to
pull off at my historical museum b/c we already have two Oct. events to
contend with - I'd hoped to find some good local ghost stories and have them
told, possibly preceeding a candle-lit (or flashlight-lit) walk to
historical and/or haunted sites. Most communities have a good share of
ghost stories, which may or not be based in any historical fact, but can
still be a good example of folklore and oral tradition!

Subject: HALLOWEEN PROGRAMS
I am looking for some ideas for programming around Halloween that are
feasible for a small historical society. We have a modern museum with
exhibit space and an 1832 Dutch farmhouse with a barn and outbuildings.
(Our current exhibit "East Meets West" is about Middle Eastern and
American clothing, which doesn't really lend itself to Halloween
programming! It will be on view through November 7.)
Thank you for your help!
