CURATOR OF COLLECTIONS

The Greensboro Historical Museum (NC), a regional history museum accredited
by the AAM and housed in a National Register building begun as a church in
1892, is seeking a person to oversee a collection of approximately 20,000
objects that reflect local and national history and the decorative arts, as
well as four 19th century structures. Duties include evaluating, enriching
and preserving collections, care of artifacts, interpreting collections to
public, and ensuring safety of collections and facility. Requirements: BA in
American or Southern History, Public History or Museum Studies; experience
in museum collections and database management; proven research, computer and
communications skills and ability to work as team member and to motivate
volunteers; physical ability to climb stairs, carry 40+ pound objects and
work with chemical solutions. Competitive salary with full benefits. Open
until filled.
