Hi,

I have been lurking on the sidelines for about a month now and it is
with a certain amount of trepidation that I post this job. It is not
being done to satisfy a nation search requirement. When I was looking
for a job a year ago I monitored this list for postings and
coincidentally learned some things about the my avocation.

Graphic Designer
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Austin, TX

Texas Parks and Wildlife seeks a Graphic Designer to produce artwork and
layout text for interpretive exhibits. Based in Austin, TX, the designer
serves as the lead on assigned projects which may require the hiring of
hourly workers and contractors to produce artwork, graphics and exhibit
components. The position includes designing and producing artwork using
Mac computers and traditional methods. A BFA from an accredited college
or university with major course work in fine arts or related field and a
minimum of three years experience in graphic design and production for
exhibitions is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        (1) Skill in text layout and the use of the computer to produce
graphics; (2) Skill in creating original maps, diagrams, and
illustrations; (3) Skill in scanning artwork and preparing it for
production;  (4) Ability to design graphics in a team environment; (5)
Ability to manage and track large projects; (6) Ability to prepare
artwork for in-house or outside production; (7) Ability to work with
Macintosh software and hardware; (8) Ability to prioritize workload and
meet deadlines; (9) Knowledge of exhibit production considerations;
(10) Knowledge to specify and administer contracts.
