The Field Museum had a really bad experience with plants (actually brought
in for a major education program) that were bug-infested and took a major
effort to get rid of them.  My rule of thumb about organic stuff comes from
the Field's Guidelines for Exhibit that requires that they be frozen (for
infestation) before coming in contact with any other exhibit material (there
was also a lovely infested piece of wood brought in from a farm).

I think about bugs and the time and money it will take to monitor and
