Perhaps a clearer example would be the (very) temporary receptionist at one
museum I worked at who wore a t-shirt one day to work that said "Eat shit
and die".    My personal preference is for name tags for docents (why not
ask THEM how they would like to be addressed) and some kind of standard
outfit (whether it be polo shirt, jacket, or just colors) for visitors
services staff.
