New-York Historical Society - Luce Center Project Assistant
In the year 2000 the Society will open The Henry Luce Center for the
Study of American Culture, a state-of-the art collections study facility
which will bring the majority of the Society's museum collections out of
storage and make them permanently accesible to the public. In
anticipation of this new facility and several other related projects
underway, The New-York Historical Society is accepting applications for
an assistant to work under the supervision of the Luce Center Project
Manager in the Society's museum department. Duties will focus primarily
on administrative tasks related to the completion of the $11 million
Luce Center and its related projects, but will also include other duties
that arise related to the active documentation and evaluation of the
collections. Tasks will include: processing bills for payment; xeroxing;
taking of meeting minutes; mailings; small research projects related to
the collections; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: BA from an accredited institution, with at least one
year of administrative office experience. Detail- oriented, good
communication skills (written and verbal) and knowledge of Microsoft
Word and Windows applications required. Strong writing skills desired.
