Sylvia:

Approximately two years ago I visited the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and
was impressed with how they installed their permanent collection, which was
arranged thematically rather than chronologically. It was, I thought,
refreshing and thought provoking, and the museum had a collection strong and
comprehensive enough to pull it off. I have no idea how many other "big"
institutions do this (aside from temporary exhibitions, of course), but I
wish it would happen more often! Wouldn't it be great to see an institution
like the Met or the Art Institute of Chicago shuffle their collection once
in a while?

Good luck - (and great picasso quote)

to whomever this may interest,

my name is sylvia and i am writing a paper on how individual art works are
used in exhibitions to form a unity with a special focus of re-installations
of museum collections, and how changing the context/environment for an art
work affects its identity.

if there is someone who has an opinion about this or just some ideas i would
love to hear from you.

it would also be great if there is someone who knows about a museum that
changes the installation of their permanent collection.

tell it" - picasso
