You might like to contact the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne VT
(802)985-3346.  They have moved several historic structures...some whole,
some in pieces, some completely dismantled. Most were moved before 1960 and
I'm not sure what documentation methods were used then and whether or not
they might be relevant to you now, but i'm sure these folks have a lot of
knowledge to share.
