Position Opening:  PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Explorit Science Center of Davis, CA is seeking a dynamic, energetic leader
to oversee the organization, implementation, and design of school and group
science education programs.  The Program Director provides day-to-day
oversight and long-term vision for Explorit's on-site and outreach programs
and has overall responsibility for the management and development of
educational program staff and resources.  The Program Director reports
directly to the Executive Director and is part of a three person management
team.

Responsibilities:  Provide leadership to program staff and volunteers in
efficiently and effectively fulfilling program objectives.  Supervise 5-9
staff educators, 2 administrative staff, and volunteers directly affiliated
with the programs. Provide vision for long-range program planning in accord
with Explorit's established guidelines and philosophies.  Manage project
and program budgets and direct program evaluation, documentation and
development of curricula and materials.  Maintain regional visibility for
Explorit's programs through on-going marketing efforts. Act as a key
liaison with other educational groups and leaders from throughout the
region.

Desired Qualifications:  Minimum of a B.A/B.S. degree with a strong
background/interest in education, science or the field of museums.  Minimum
of two years of progressively responsible experience teaching, developing
curricula and/or managing projects in an educational setting, preferably in
an informal learning environment such as a science center, museum, nature
center, or park.  Experience in a school or other formal learning
environment will also qualify.  Solid knowledge of inquiry-based science
education methods a plus.  Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated
leadership ability.  Supervisory experience.  Positive approach to
problem-solving.  Strong written and verbal communication skills.   Proven
time management and organizational skills.

Hours/Salary/Benefits: Full-time. Starting salary range $1,820 - $2,167 per
month depending on experience and qualifications.   Benefits.  Please send
