The Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a Chief
Preparator of Packing and Storage.  This position is responsible for
designing, executing and supervising the packing, crating and storage of
all collection artworks, loans and traveling exhibitions.  Duties include
supervising two full-time assistant preparators as well as temporary
project staff; designing crates, packing artworks and loading trucks;
organizing and managing on-site and off-site collections storage
facilities; working closely with the Registration, Conservation and
Installation departments to ensure the safe handling and inventory control
of all artworks for which the Museum is responsible; preparing and
administering annual departmental budget; participating in project planning
and budgeting; and making courier trips as needed.

Must have five years of museum art handling and storage management
experience, preferably in a supervisory role.  Bachelors degree in fine
arts, art history or a related field required.  Must be safety conscious;
possess good mechanical skills, manual dexterity and ability to manage
multiple priorities; have good organizational and communication skills; and
be computer literate.
