Commercial Services Manager

The MIT Museum seeks an enthusiastic entrepreneur to oversee and develop
commercial activities of the Museum, principally retail operations (a
store, cyberstore and mail order operation) and a functions business. The
postholder is responsible for managing retail operations to generate an
operating profit; supervising and training sales staff; merchandising;
inventory control; managing vendors; dealing with inquiries and complaints.
Oversee functions business, in particular its development and marketing.
Develop licensing and reproductions of museum collections. Assist in
Museum's planning as it relates to commercial activities.

Candidates must have bachelor's degree and five years of retail and,
preferably, catalog experience. MBA an advantage. Must have strong
commitment to customer service; understanding of role of commercial
services in a museum; and supervisory experience. Excellent interpersonal
