In response to the query on museum-library collection collaborations I
would recommend looking at PACSCL

PACSCL , the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collection Libraries
is unique model for collaboration among smaller specialized library
collection.  They have successfully received grant funding for several
years which has resulted in a unified on-line catalogue allowing
researchers access to all collections.
