Correction! Correction!

Someone just brought to my attention that in a recent post, I wrote that
Texas joined the Union in 1844. I hit the wrong key. The vote to admit
was cast in 1845. The U.S. flag went up officially in 1846.

Nevertheless, many Texans still think of themselves as independent. You
are of course, aware of the recent small movement that claimed we are
really not legally in the Union at all. A couple of those guys (I call
them the Davis Mountain Boys) are serving time for pursuing that idea a
little to vigilantly.
