The Decision that I nominate as the most important decision of the
Century was

the choice of NAZI army forces to use mechanical coding systems during
WW2 to send messages.

This decision
1) was the first decision of the information age, before codes had been
human based ( ie using American Indian languages, or books)
2) Resulted in the developments at Blechley park leading to the
codebreaking computer and thus the rise of the modern computer and the
Information Age
3)Because of the Blind acceptance by the Nazi's that the system was
foolproof, when the code was broken it was a continued source of useful
information that strongly helped win the war and changed the geopolitical
structure of the world for at least the second half of the century
