Dear Elizabeth

I don't know all the ins and outs of VERY Small Museum Shops, but I
would suspect that if it is a pricier item it is on cosignment at least
that is how fine-art prints, sculptures etc. are handled.  You could
always offer the option of doing either way if the retailer wants to buy
a supply.  It really depends on the item to but approaching to work on a
consignment basis is always safe.
