This is a fascinating discussion but it's also pretty depressing stuff!
Can we have one or two stories of any wonderful volunteers??

In the UK Peter Walton has been researching the training of volunteers
for BAFM (British Association of Friends of Museums) funded by the
Carnegie UK Trust. In the next few months a Charter and Handbook for
Volunteer Managers and Administrators will be launched and training
materials are being assembled thanks to a further grant from the Pilgrim
