I need information on scanning photos for viewing on sceen. I have an
Agfa snapscan 600 and Adope Photoshop 3.0. We are putting the images on
ZIP drive and evenually CD ROM. To save space and prevent people from
getting a quality image off the computer we are scanning them at low
resolution. I would like the images to look good on the screen and
there are some views where more detail is needed. Do I simply raise the
resolution to get this detail? I have a MAC and use Accession as my
data base. It has a place for a thumbnail and will access the image for
enlargement. I have been trying to save the image so it comes up screen
size (7"x9"). What settings should I be using? I also have many
contact, 2"x2" prints. Is there a way I can scan a bunch at a time and
cut them apart? Also what resolution do I need to use to get them up to
screen size without losing detail? We have about 15,000, primarily
black and white images of varying size, of the Coeur d'Alene Region. Is
there a book that would help?
