Seth,

In addition to the questions reaised by Osman Moustafa Osman, you also need
to look at what role you might want to play in historic preservation -- that
of an administrator of a program, an archaeologist, an architect, an
historian, an historical architect?  In the U.S. there are many career
opportunities, but many require (or or best fulfilled with graduate training
in a specific discipline coupled with the knowledge that might be gained in
a historic preservation master's program.

Good luck in whatever approach you choose.
