We are a bit different than most museums in that we are an art center
with thriteen classrooms and 185 classes in everything from calligraphy
to glassblowing to ceramics to metal sculpture. Last year, we installed
Holiday Shrubs (3' tall trees) in the corridors and asked each
department to decorate the trees with handdmade ornaments. The trees,
lights and ornaments were then silent auctioned tto raise money for
financial meeds scholarships. It started off slow with decorations, but
once people got going, the trees took off. So, we are again doing it.
We have many holiday parties here at the Indianapolis Art Center, so we
need to have something installed, however, we promote these as holiday
giving trees. We talked to our students and all of them are for it,
knowing that this is a great way to raise money for scholarships.

Good luck with your holidays.
