I questioned the use of student labor in competition with professional
labor. Two people who responded to my comments on my ethical dilema said
(in part).

I can not disagree when the competitors are equal. Perhaps I should tell
you something that has always influenced my thinking. I was told, there is
an old saying in China, "Don't break the other fellow's rice bowl." The
saying is attributed to the men who pulled the boats up and down the
rivers. Their pay was a bowl of soup each day. If they didn't have a bowl
they would starve. Hence the saying.

IMHO, those of us who are "wealthy" enough to give away dolls (or anything
else) must be sure we are not hurting people who are trying to survive
making dolls.
