Exhibit Department Director
The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking an Exhibit Department Director
to lead the development, implementation and maintenance of hands-on
interactive science exhibits. The Science Museum of Virginia is a
multi-site, statewide institution promoting informal science education.
The educational programs are based upon interactive exhibits that allow
personal experimentation and learning. The Exhibit Department Director
must have experience in the planning, design and production of museum
exhibitions; an ability to manage people and to lead multi-disciplinary
teams to produce interactive exhibitions; and demonstrated oral and
written communication skills. An ability to use computer applications,
including AutoCAD, and an ability to apply science education concepts in
exhibit design is desired. A demonstrated ability to manage exhibit
design and production teams, including internal staff and external
contractors, is preferred. Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a
major study in fine or applied arts, museum administration or industrial
design. Study of business management preferred. Salary range is $37,158
to $56,734. This is a full-time position with benefits. Completed state
