Not to be a grump, but after 12 years as a museum professional I am only
now getting what I consider to be a reasonable salary--in a low-overhead
city, no less--and am, at 36, still making half the salary of the
24-year-old corporate type who just bought my house.

My eyes were open and I have a M.B.A.:  I just choose to apply it to my
career, not my job.
