Nancy,

At the Canadian Postal Museum, we present a variety of activities using
handstamps and ink. Unfortunately, the only solution we have been able to
arrive at to keep the stamps from wandering is to schedule the activity and
have animators (paid or volunteer) present it or tie the handstamps down.
And as you said, tying the stamps to the table is not really feasible. I
owuld be happy to hear if anyone has any suggestions for this.

For ink however, there are water soluble varieties available. We use the
Crayola Washable Stamp Pad which comes in a variety of colours and is very
easy to remove.
