Dan;

I seem to recall that on CBC Radio's "Basic Black" programme (running on
Saturday mornings) two or three months ago Arthur Black interviewed a man
who was something of a duct tape historian, as well as a "duct tape
oragami artist". I'm sorry I can't recall more details on the interview,
or remember the air date, but the folks at the CBC might be able to help
you out further.

If you're interested in some of the odd uses duct tape has been put to, I
belong to a medieval recreation club (the Society for Creative
Anachronism, or SCA), and we use duct tape all the time as a covering for
our rattan weapons, and for armour repairs. It makes a quick, easy,
strong fix, and the metallic finish of the tape at least has something of
the appearance of steel.
