Caroline,

Along with the Windber Heritage Center, there are a number of small
coal-mining oriented sites in Pennsylvania; contact the Allegheny Heritage
Development Corporation for information (www.ahdc.org).  The Museum of
Science and Industry in Chicago also has a coal-mine "ride"/exhibit that is
wildly popular, and has been since it was installed in the 1930s.
