EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
THE JEWISH MUSEUM OF MARYLAND

        The Jewish Museum of Maryland seeks an executive director to manage a
major regional museum of Jewish history, art and culture in a
newly-enlarged 22,000 square foot urban facility in addition to two
adjacent, restored synagogues listed on the National Register of
Historic Buildings.  The Museum is AAM accredited.

        Responsibilities: Director must supervise a staff of 12, provide
support to and work closely with the Museum’s Board and officers, and
continue active endowment development.  Director has special
responsibility for policy development, budget and strategic planning,
grant-writing, management of facilities and historic buildings, and
involvement with colleagues at collateral institutions and with city and
state legislators.  Director is expected to maintain a presence in the
local Jewish community, to advocate for the Museum and to work closely
with the local Jewish federation, of which the Museum is a constituent
agency.

        Qualifications: Candidates should possess knowledge of museum policies
and practices, demonstrated skill in leadership and management,
excellent writing and communications skills, experience in financial
resource development and fiscal management, ability to enhance public
interest in the Museum and a proven and successful record of
accomplishment at a managerial level in museums or comparable
institutions.  Candidate should have a background in Jewish culture and
history.  Salary commensurate with experience.
